Matthew Lewis, Parvinder Shergill, and Kayleigh-Paige Rees are set to star in the upcoming UK indie comedy-drama Touché, a film that dives into the unique world of fencing. This feature film, which explores themes of diversity in fencing and female empowerment, is currently shooting in London this summer.
Touché is a collaborative co-production between Shergill’s Pinder Productions and Rees’ Raspberry Films. The plot centers on Deep (played by Shergill), a struggling British South Asian woman who decides to transform her life by learning how to fence. Kayleigh-Paige Rees portrays Kate, a fencing champion at the club who initially struggles to accept Deep as a newcomer. Matthew Lewis takes on the role of Tom, who forms an unexpected friendship with Deep while hiding a significant family secret.
The production of Touché benefits from the expertise of Julianna Revesz from Knightsbridge Fencing Club, who serves as the fencing consultant to ensure the film accurately portrays the sport.
Matthew Lewis is widely recognized for his portrayal of Neville Longbottom in the Harry Potter series. Recently, he has been seen in Romesh Ranganathan’s BBC Comedy Avoidance, alongside Aisling Bea. Lewis has also starred in British dramas such as Happy Valley and All Creatures Great and Small, and the comedy Baby Done featuring Rose Matafeo.
Parvinder Shergill, who wrote, produced, and starred in the ITVX short Kaur, has also appeared in the long-running British soap Coronation Street. Kayleigh-Paige Rees has been actively involved in producing the Russia-Ukraine War documentary We Are Home, narrated by Stephen Fry. She is known for her role in the ITV and PBS drama Sanditon and has also produced and starred in the UK indie comedy series Keep Calm & Carry On, which was picked up by Prime Video.
The casting of Touché is handled by prestigious agencies: Shergill is with Identity Agency Group, Rees is represented by BBA Management, and Lewis is with Curtis Brown and Authentic Talent and Literary Management.
With its unique premise and talented cast, Touché promises to be a compelling addition to the landscape of British indie cinema, bringing fresh perspectives and narratives to the screen.
