Alain marries Virginie in the crypt of the Saint-Joseph oratory. It should be their happiest day, but Alain’s anxiety and illness worsen as the celebration approaches. His cousin Édouard, his best man, also struggles. Alain hopes for a day of healing, but a cursed name from his past resurfaces, bringing shame and pain. Everything they tried to forget now demands attention. As we make our bed, so we must lie in it.
