Project Summary:
Tani Adewumi fled Nigeria with his family to escape Boko Haram, arriving in the U.S. and living in a homeless shelter. Despite hardships, eight-year-old Tani discovered a talent for chess, practicing tirelessly. Less than a year after learning the game, Tani won the New York State chess championship.
